Step four on Gymini is the platform stuff: reminders, widgets, the Lock Screen timer, Shortcuts, Apple Health. And the one I cared about most, your old workouts from the paid app come across. The app reads them once, from a copy of the old database, never the file itself, so if you ever went back the old app would still open with everything in it.
Here's what broke. The copy read as empty. Zero workouts. A fresh database keeps its tables in a side file until it gets around to writing them into the main one, so copying the main file alone gets you nothing. Copy all three files or you import nothing. The test that proved it is permanent now, and the importer was run three times over a real copy of the old app before I believed it.
The other rule from this step: when you check something the operating system holds, you read it back out of the operating system. Reminders were verified by listing what iOS had pending after every change, not by looking at our own toggle. The widget never opens the database at all. It reads a small snapshot the app writes, so it can't race the app for the file.
One honest limit. If you lock the phone mid-workout, the workout pauses, and the Lock Screen says so. A timer that keeps counting while the app is actually suspended would be lying. Running through the lock is on the list for 3.1, once I've tested it on a real phone with music playing.
